TCDS Presents: "Art"

https://youtu.be/gvK1v9LspxU TCDS is delighted to present “Art” — a play and a gallery! Come out for an evening of student art, theatre, and snacks! “Art” the play is written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton. Set in Paris, it follows the destruction of three lifelong friendships. When Serge, the self-styled connoisseur, spends €200,000 on a completely white painting, all hell breaks loose. His cynical, traditionalist best friend Marc loses his mind at this decision, and Yvan — whose marriage and career are also on the brink of collapse — tries fruitlessly to make peace, only worsening the situation. The winner of the 1998 Tony Award for Best Play, “Art” is a hilarious and challenging piece of theatre that invites us to question our own beliefs about the nature of love, friendship, and of course, art. Before the performance, there will be a gallery of student art displayed throughout the lobby and auditorium of the George Ignatieff Theatre. We invite you to come early and discuss your own relationship to art -- what do you like? What makes art “good?” What role does art play in your life? The exhibition will be open in the hour before the performance, and there will be free snacks! Doors for the gallery open at 7:00 PM, and the performance will begin at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $10 for students/seniors and $15 for adults. They can be purchased at the door with cash or online here: https://tinyurl.com/TCDSArt CAST Kody McCann - Marc Ezera Beyene - Serge Brendan Rush - Yvan CREW Ryan Falconer - Director Liana Ernszt - Curator Nikta Sadati - Stage Manager Annie MacKillian - Producer Claire Ellis - Assistant Stage Manager Beatrice Freedman - Set Design & Props Sam Parker - Lighting Design Andrew Hoang - Sound Design With original music composed by Shreya Jha and performed by Shreya Jha and Mira Riselli Poster designed by Winnie Wang
